Former President of Ghana, Mr. J.A Kuffour has called on Ghanaians desist from perceiving Black Stars players as unpatriotic insisting that the players must be paid their bonuses when due.

The former head of state believes that the game of football is now business and that every player, aside, the national pride also plays for the money that comes with it.

Speaking in an interview with Starr FM, an Accra based radio station, Mr. Kuffour said "It’s a profession in which people are making millions all over the world and must be given what is due them.”

he recalled the incident at the 2014 World Cup where Sulley Muntari attacked a management committee member of the Black Stars saying that is their profession and they need to make money out of it.

“It would be recalled that Muntari grew furious in a team meeting in Brazil over unpaid appearance fees during the 2014 World Cup leading to a fight with Black Stars management committee member Moses Armah.

“And Muntari is expected to send a formal apology to the Ghana FA for the physical attack on Mr. Armah before he can be readmitted into the senior national team.

“You get a Muntari perhaps losing his temper occasionally. I don’t think he is any less Ghanaian or less patriotic. He is a professional player."

Mr. J.A Kuffour was the first head of state under whose regime Ghana qualified for her first ever world cup in Germany in 2206.
