Kelechi Iheanacho celebrates his goal for Manchester City

Former Right to Dream Academy boy Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first senior goal for Manchester City to preserve their perfect start to the season as they managed a slender 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The 18-year-old precocious talent was making just his second Premier League appearance for City and he scored his debut goal to preserve their enviable record in the campaign.

He came on for Wilfried Bony with a couple of minutes remaining on Saturday and just 54 seconds later was alert enough to tap home a close-range rebound after Alex McCarthy spilled Samir Nasri's shot.

Having signed for City in 2014, from Taye Academy in Nigeria, he impressed on the club's pre-season tours of Australia, Vietnam and Germany.

City sent Iheanacho to Ghana's Right to Dream Academy in December 2013 as part of their partnership agreement with the Akosombo-based football school.

The former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner trained at the academy for weeks while City worked to prepare his work permit and other documents.

Manchester City have a standing agreement with RtD Academy as they send players in opposite directions for training.
