Free agent Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko being trackd by Turkish side Besiktas

Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko is being tracked by Turkish side Besiktas, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The 27-year-old is a free agent after leaving fellow Turkish side Eskisehirspor.

Eskisehirspor canceled Akaminko's contract last month despite having two years left on it as he was contracted to Eskisehirspor until June 2018.

But they opted to end it two years early which means they have to pay some compensation to the Ghana international whose career has been severely affected by the injury he suffered just hours before Ghana named it final World Cup squad for the 2014 World Cup.

According to reports in Turkey, Besiktas are planning to sign the Ghanaian, who has also been linked with a move to China.

The centre-back has struggled to regain his form since suffering a knee injury last May in a Ghana pre-2014 FIFA World Cup friendly against the Netherlands.

Akaminko sat out the entire 2014/2015 season without kicking a ball as he went through rehabilitation.

Since recovering from the injury he has not regained his top form which looks to have led to the decision to cancel his contract.

Akaminko started his Turkey in adventure in the 2008-2009 season with Orduspor before switching to Manisaspor from where he was signed by Eskisehirspor in the summer of 2012 for 1 million 350 thousand Euros.
