French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes have confirmed Ghana defender John Mensah will train with their first team.

The 29-year-old has been without a club since leaving giants Olympique Lyons in June.

"He has been a free agent since last June and club has agreed that he trains here to keep in shape," Rennes general manager Pierre Dréossi said.

Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Tel Aviv and Turkish side Trabzonspor were linked with a move for the towering defender.

He played for Rennes between the 2006 and 2008 season.
