French Ligue 2 side Lens were in Belgium on Sunday to watch Daniel Opare play in the Pro League championship play-off against Genk.

The 23-year-old played 52 minutes for Standard Liege in the 2-2 draw and had scouts of the second-tier side monitoring him.

But Antoine Kombouare’s side face stiff opposition from Marseille, Lille, Lyon or Metz who had representatives inside the Cristal Arena.

Lens are in firm position to qualify to the Ligue 1 next season as they lie second on the table.

Opare is out of contract in June and has already refused to sign a contract extension.

The versatile wing-back is expected to be named in Ghana’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Opare has made 21 Belgian Pro League appearances this season.
