Former Asante Kotoko coach Frimpong Manso has advised the club to be consistent on the local scene if they want to rule Africa again.

The Porcupine Warriors were one of the major forces on the continent in the early 90's as they clinched the CAF Champions League trophy on two occasions.

But the Kumasi-based side have failed to make significant stride since making it to the 2004 CAF Confederation Cup final - where they lost to bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak.

"If you want to conquer Africa, you need consistency," Manso told Kessben FC.

"You have to win your home-based league, maintain a consistent team squad and beef up with quality players.

"But in situations where you sell your good players and struggle to replace them, then it will lead to nowhere.

"For Kotoko to compete well in Africa, they need a standing team that have played together for at least three seasons.

"By doing that, every player needs to be satisfied before a good result can be achieved in Africa."

Their latest attempt - this season - ended in a preliminary round elimination at the hands of Congolese side CARA Brazzaville.
