Frimpong sees red in Arsenal's defeat to Liverpool

Midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong was sent off as Arsenal crumbled to a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in a Premiership game on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card for a stud-up challenge on Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva in the 69th minute.

The situation instantly handed the initiative to the visitors who capitalized in the 78th minute courtesy an own goal by Aaron Ramsey.

It got worse in the 90th minute when Luiz Suarez finished off a neat move at the edge of Arsenals danger area to ensure the first win at the Emirates for the Reds.

Frimpong in his first full premiership debut however impressed during his time on the pitch by providing solid defensive protection to the injury ravaged defense of Arsene Wengers side.

He almost stole the headlines with his long rage drive in the first half which was parried away by Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

But youngster’s appetite for getting stuck-in however proved his undoing after getting away with other strong challenges earlier in the game.

The yet to be capped Ghanaian will now serve a mandatory game suspension which rules him out of next weekend’s clash with Manchester United.
