The Black Princesses of Ghana

Second half goals from Niber Lewrencia Lily and Veronica Appiah sealed a 3-0 aggregate win for the Black Princesses of Ghana to advance to the final qualification stage of the 2016 FIFA U-20 women’s world cup to be staged in Papua New Guinea.

The Princesses led by Mas-Ud Dramani came in to the second leg in Kumasi with a slender 1-0 victory they got in Equatorial Guinea.

But it was the away side who begun the game with much purpose and intensity forcing the home side into their own half.

The first real chance of the game fell to Abdul-Rahman Samira of Ghana In the 10th minute but the reliable striker scuffed her chance after doing all the hard work to beat her marker.

Both teams played with caution after that and created very few chances which ultimately resulted in a goalless first half.

The second half of the game saw a much improved Black Princesses side who came out firing from all angles.

Adubea Princella who looked the most likely to get on the score-sheet, picked up the game's first yellow card after a rough challenge on Tamolo Idiye of Equatorial Guinea.

A few minutes after that, Niber Lawrencia raced through a forest of Equatorial Guinea defenders to break the deadlock to give  the home side a much needed goal.

The goal seemed to have awoken Mas-Ud Dramani's side who were now playing with much confidence and zeal to the delight of hundreds of fans who had gathered at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports stadium for the game.

The Ghana coach sensing another goal made his first substitution on the day, introducing Fatima Alhassan for Samira Abdul Rahman.

The change seemed to have added another firepower upfront as the Black Princesses hit the wood work twice in the space of 15 minutes.

Despites clearly dominating the game, the Princesses could not add another goal and that propelled Mas-Ud Dramani to make his second change of the day. With just 15 minutes to end the game, Sandra Owusu came off for Veronica Appiah.

And the change proved a master class after Veronica powered home the game's second and ultimately sealed a comprehensive victory for Ghana's Black Princesses.
