FUFA Awards 2016: Focus on EX-Kotoko star Joseph Ochaya

Published on: 01 December 2016

Ochaya had an eventful year. After helping KCCA FC reclaim the league title from Vipers, the left back scooped the Uganda Premier League Player of the Year award undoubtedly.

The left back, who has been often deployed as a wing back under Mike Mutebi’s preferred 3-5-2 system was his club’s top scorer last season with seven goals on top of bagging several assists.

Besides, the ex-Asante Kotoko man was also superb for the national team, The Uganda Cranes as they qualified for the 2017 Africa Nations Cup in Gabon playing in all but one match.

His exploits have seen teams across the globe keep an eye on him and he also had trials with South Africa’s Bidvest Wits although the deal never materialised.

Ochaya is always the first name on the KCCA and Uganda Cranes team sheet and is among the top two favourites for the gong.
