GENOA - Simeone Jr: \"I want to become better than my dad, but I have to improve\"

Published on: 30 September 2016

Genoa striker Giovanni Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego, spoke to Corriere della Sera in an exclusive interview:

"It's not easy to coexist with his greatness, that's why I want to become better than him: I must try that and to I have to show I am here for my own merits, then we will see.

"What did I acquire from him? The "garra", that is the way we define determination, anger and obstinacy. Dad is still a master today for that; have you seen the game against Bayern Munich the other night? A ringleader! Him, the team, the stadium: one thing, thay is magic, not football.

"In what do I have to grow up? In playing with my back to the goal. Pavoletti is a master, when he will come back I will probably be on the bench again but I will do everything to take adavantage of my next chance: concentration is really important."
