Ex-Hearts coach Ernst Midderndorp has expressed his interest in taking up the vacant job at his former club.

GHANAsoccernet.com broke the news on Friday that the capital-based club have initiated talks to re-sign their former trainer to fill the vacant role following the departure of Herbert Addo.

The 56-year-old has confirmed he’s been in talks with the club since he left in 2004 and will relish the opportunity to return.

“I have been in constant talks with some officials of the club but can’t tell the details.” He told Kumasi-based Nhyria FM

“Of course, I know the potential of a club like Hearts of Oak. No coach in the world will turn down an opportunity to coach this club if the offer is right.

“This is big club on the continent of Africa and I will look into it if the opportunity presents itself. We’ll discuss it and the challenge and what has to be done.

“I am actually free, I have finalized an issue here with my club in South Africa at the end of June and I’m looking forward to other options."

The former Augsburg and Arminia Bielefeld coach is not new in Ghana having coached giants Asante Kotoko for three seasons.

The German trainer is currently unemployed after terminating his contract with South African side Chippa United.

He is well-experienced trainer having coached several top sides in South Africa including Kaizer Chiefs, Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United
