Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has dismissed thoughts of a grand conspiracy by CAF to disgrace the nation through its decision to disqualify the Black Starlets over age-cheating claims.

The GFA have appealed the decision by CAF to disqualify the Ghana U17 team from next year’s Africa Junior Championships following what appears to be a successful protest by Cameroon – Ghana’s most recent opponent.

A recent MRI scan conducted on one of the seven Ghanaian players protested against by Cameroon, according to CAF, proves the said player – Isaac Twum – is over-aged.

But the GFA has mounted a staunch appeal – insisting it used only qualified players in its games based on expert reports received from a radiologist.

The GFA even sought an independent expert view in the wake of CAF’s disqualification to enforce its position on the appeal.

There are however high ranking members of the Ghana FA who believe CAF is on a witch-hunt for inexplicable reasons.

GFA Executive Committee member Wilfred Osei who also doubles as the Vice Chairman of the Black Starlets’ management committee believes Cameroon are just being aided by the continental body simply because CAF’s President – Issa Hayatou – is a Cameroonian himself.

But Kwesi Nyantakyi, who also serves on the CAF Executive Committee dismissed this thought – insisting CAF is a ‘transparent’ body with systems in place which will be difficult for anyone to manipulate.

“There is no decision of the [Ghana FA] Executive Committee of a conspiracy by CAF,” Nyantakyi said.

“I am on the Executive Committee of CAF and I know the going on there.

“CAF is a transparent body and therefore it will be impossible for anybody to manipulate the system.

“Well, you can make the attempt but you will not be successful.”

CAF is yet to sit on the appeal launched by the Ghana FA.
