Marco Tardelli appears to also be opting out of the race to become next Black Stars coach

Ghana FA Executive Committee member Wilfred Osei (Palmer) has denied applying for the Black Stars coaching job on behalf of Marco Tardelli.

Reports are rife that the Tema Youth Sporting Director was the one who forwarded the CV and other documents to the GFA on behalf of the Italian trainer for consideration as the next coach of the Black Stars.

Tardelli, 60, is reported to have withdrawn from the race having been shortlisted amongst four others for the job.

The 1982 World Cup winner claims no knowledge of his application for the job which was made vacant following the dismissal of Kwesi Appiah.

GFA Executive Committee member Wilfred Osei is alleged to have operated in a position of conflicting interest by applying on behalf of Tardelli - a charge he describes as baseless.

"These reports are so untrue," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"I think people are saying that because I endorsed him [Tardelli] at a radio station.

"But I can tell you that all the news making rounds that I applied on behalf of Tardelli are factually incorrect."

The GFA’s search for a substantive replacement for Kwesi Appiah is gradually turning into a big joke with the shortlisted applicants opting out claiming no interest in the job.

The Ghana FA meanwhile is expected to begin interviewing these shortlisted candidates from this weekend.
