President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi could not hide his delight after inspecting facilities at the newly constructed Cape Coast stadium.

The stadium, which sits 16,000 people, was constructed by Chinese firm Jiang Xi International Corporation and was fully financed by the Chinese government.

Construction was completed earlier this year and following its official opening, the ground will now be available to the general public.

“I am really impressed with the facilities and I certain that we will enjoy memorable moments here,” Nyantakyi said

“This adds to stadia we have already and it is all in the direction of helping improve the playing ground for the game.”

“To be frank I am very much impressed with the edifice.”

Already, the ground has been chosen to host the 2016 MTN FA Cup final and there are some indications that the 2017 AFCON qualifier between Ghana and Rwanda in September will be played there.
