Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice president George Akwesi Afriyie has dismissed reports that he was in the Brong Ahafo region to begin his campaigning for the nation's football governing body hot seat.

Widespread report in the media suggest Afriyie travelled to the Brong Ahafo region and met top hierarchy of clubs and shared his vision ahead of the upcoming election.

However, despite confirming he was in the region on Sunday, the vociferous football administrator it wasn’t because of the FA elections.

“Last week I posted on my Facebook wall that, I will be in the Kumasi to represent the FA for Kotoko CAF Confederation Cup against CARA Club,” Afriyie told Asempa FM.

He continued, “After the Kotoko game I went to Brong Ahafo to meet my friends, so as I got there I was told Berekum Arsenal CEO Yakubu Moro is not feeling so I decided to visit him. After visiting him I drove back to Kumasi and board my flight to Accra, so it wasn’t true I was in Brong Ahafo to campaign for the GFA elections.”

The incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi has already declared that he will not seek for re-election when the GFA elections comes off next year.
