GFA vice president sure of All Africa Games qualification

Ghana Football Association vice president Fred Pappoe is assured of the national Under-23 qualification to the All Africa Games.

The Black Meteors are in a tight corner after succumbing to a second half marauding to lose 3-1 to Nigeria's Dream Team V last Saturday.

Nigeria denied Ghana a place at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing  but Pappoe says the déjà vu will be avoided at all cost.

"We will not allow them (Nigeria) to kick us out for the second time," he told Asempa FM.

"We have started all consultations since last Sunday and will be putting plans in motion right away."

Pappoe claims the FA have contacted clubs to release their star-studded foreign-based players for the match which will be played on a non-Fifa approved date.

"It is a very difficult situation as you know, clubs are not under any obligation to release their players since the competition is not on the Fifa calendar," he said.

"We have however written early to the clubs and following it up with phone calls to ensure all the best materials are available to help the coach successfully prosecute his agenda of qualification to the All Africa Games."
