The Ghana League Clubs Association has defended its decision to lift the sanctions on local giants Asante Kotoko.

The decision to lift the one-year ban and a 10,000 Ghana cedi fine has been heavily criticized.

It has been hugely debated that could be a recipe for growing indiscipline in the country despite Kotoko grovelling over their shameful behaviour.

But the five-man Interim Management Committee of the umbrella body sees nothing wrong their decision.

"We took the decision because Kotoko showed enough remorse and as a parent body it was important we tempter justice with mercy," Interim chairman Alhaji Ali Raji said.

"They have apologized to the appropriate quarters and we think we should let sleeping dogs lie and move forward as an association and make progress."

Kotoko boycotted the medal and trophy presentation ceremony during the President's Cup on 1 July against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.
