The off-season GHALCA competition is in danger after clubs threatened to boycott the competition over what they described as bad organization.

The umbrella body of the Premier League clubs attempt to revive the once hugely sought after top-four competition has lost its spark with enormous complains of unpaid monies.

GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm that the clubs that participated in last season's Top-8 competition have not been paid their appearance fees.

They incurred huge debt accrued from camping fees.

Berekum Chelsea, Medeama, Ebusua Dwarfs, Liberty Professionals, Ashantigold, New Edubiase, Aduana Stars, Heart of Lions and FA Cup holders  Nania FC are burning from the huge financial cost that has crippled their respective clubs.

Second-placed Ashantigold have hinted they could pull the plucks on the competition if they are not paid last year’s participation fee.

“Last season we were not paid for our participation in the Top 8 which is a GHALCA organized tournament so we will not play in any organized GHALCA competition until we are paid,” Chief Executive Kudjo Fianoo said in an earlier interview.

“We will only play if they pay the appearance fee for the Top 8 and content with the terms and conditions of the top 4”

The hierarchy of GHALCA is believed to be divided on the new format with many clamouring for a return of the top-four competition.

It will be recalled that giants Kotoko and Hearts withdrew from the competition last year and that affected quality, attention and patronage.

Kotoko, Ashantigold, Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC emerged as the top-four teams this season.
