The Ghana League Clubs Association is on the verge of sealing a sponsorship with SuperSport for the Top 8 tournament and the President’s Cup, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively report.

GHANASoccernet.com understands, the South Africa-based Pay TV channel will become headline sponsors and breathe life into the two competitions.

GHALCA has lacked the financial wherewithal to organize competitions after running into debts in the past.

“We are in advance talks with Super sports and some other big companies who are willing to come to our aid and sponsor both the top 8 competition and the president’s cup,” GHALCA chairman Alhaji Aliu Raji told Spice FM.

“We have had challenges in the past and they have made us stronger. By next week Ghalca will come out with all its plans and cemented contracts on how we are reviving these competitions.

“We know how difficult it is to run a tournament of such magnitude and that’s why we are working to improve standard.”

The umbrella body for Ghanaian clubs is yet to pay the appearance fee for Nigerian club Enugu Rangers for playing in the 2013 President’s Cup.

SuperSports signed a three-year deal with the Ghana Football Association as Television right holders for the First Capital Plus Premier League and FA Cup.

The high-quality production has seeen them earn rave reviews in the country.
