Ghana advance to CAN 2013 final qualifying round

Ghana will skip two qualifying stages to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals, Caf confirmed on Saturday.

The Black Stars will not be involved in the preliminary qualifying rounds which will involve 30 countries.

The four-time continental champions and the other 16 teams that qualified to the CAN Orange 2012 and  the 14 teams that qualified from  Preliminary round 2  will meet in first and second leg formula to qualify 15 countries.

South Africa are automatic qualified as host country for the event which will now be held in odd years starting 2013.

The final qualifying round matches will be played in September and October 2012.
