Niger took another massive step towards a good 2013 AFCON campaign after they drew 0-0 with Burkina Faso in Nelspruit on Thursday night.

It was an even contest between the two West African teams.

“It was a very satisfying display by Niger as they gave everything in this game,” a top official informed MTNFootball.com

“This shows that we are ready to take on the rest of Africa in South Africa.”

At the weekend, they defeated Togo 3-1 in another test game played in Niamey after they lost 1-0 in Ethiopia all in readiness for Africa's biggest football showpiece event.

Last year, Niger made their AFCON debut, losing all three group games.

Issoufou Boubacar maintained his fine form in the first half, while second-half substitutes Issa Modibo and Talatou Boubacar, who have featured in the South African league, shone.

Mena lined up key stars including skipper Moussa Maazou, goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly and Alhassane Issoufou ‘Dante’.

Niger will depart for Port Elizabeth on Friday morning.

They are expected to conclude their build-up for the AFCON on Tuesday against PSL outfit Platinum Stars.
