Ghana legend Michael Essien has ruled out retiring in the near future as he is focused on continuing as a professional footballer.
The former Chelsea star insists he is not yet ready to hang up his boots even though his recent performances for clubs sides he has signed for have not gone too well
The 35-year-old, who was once regarded as one of the world's best midfielders, has seen several of his former Chelsea team-mates like Didider Drogba and Frank Lampard retire from the game.
Several serious knee injuries took a toll of his form resulting in him signing for Greek side Panathinaikos and Indonesian side Persib Bandung - both ending prematurely.
It was thought he would end his career when he was declared surplus to requirements by Persibs two months ago but with interest from Malaysia the midfielder insists he will continue.
"It's not the end. I have some discussion to do with some clubs. I still want to enjoy a little bit the years ahead of me before I call it done," Essien told Goal.com.
"If a club come from Malaysia, then we'll sit down and talk, then see what happens."
During his time at Chelsea Essien won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and one Champions League with the English club.
Essien has also previously turned out for the likes of Lyon, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
