GHANA announce World Cup plans

Published on: 19 April 2010

Ghana will play three high profile friendlies before the World Cup stars in South Africa in June as they will begin camping in France next month.

The Black Stars will play warm-up matches against Latvia, Holland and a yet-to-be-named third opponent in Europe.

Several players will be called to camp in the European country at the sponsorship of sports apparel giants Puma.

The matches have been scheduled for between 27 May and 5 June, by which time coach Milovan Rajevac would have named his full squad.

Despite the high profile three friendlies, the Black Stars will also play some local French side to enhance the team strategy under the Serbian master tactician.

The first bug friendly for the Black Stars will be against Holland in Rotterdam on 1 June.

Three days after the Dutch duel, Milovan Rajevac's side will be away in London where they play their final test game against Latvia on June 5 at Milton Keynes Dons' MK Stadium.

Ghana's travelling party will depart to Pretoria, their camp base in South Africa on June 6 ahead of the start of the tournament five days later.

The Black Stars are paired in group D alongside three-time champions Germany, Serbia and Australia.
