Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu believes quality preparations would help the Black Stars secure a place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The West African giants have been drawn in a tight group along with Egypt, Congo and Uganda.

Ghana, three-time World Cup participants, are chasing their fourth straight appearance at the Mundial.

But assistant Konadu believes Ghana can only secure qualification if attention is paid to quality preparations.

"Preparation is very key and it's everything. It's a very tight draw," he told Accra-based Oman FM.

Ghana get a repeat clash with Egypt who suffered humiliation at the hands of the Black Stars ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The former Ghana international defender insists the climate around the Black Stars is totally different from when the Black Stars last mauled the Pharaohs 6-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

"Consider the factors between that time and now. A lot has changed. The mood around the team was different with massive support from the fans and the government so we must place premium on preparations," he added.

Ghana's campaign at the Brazil 2014 World Cup was abysmal Ghana played under expectations.
