Ghana attacker Afum ITC arrives, set to make Young Boys league debut

Ghana attacker Samuel Afum has been cleared by FIFA to start his Young Boys career as the world football governing body has issued his International Transfer Certificate.

The 22-year-old who signed a three-and-half-year contract with the Bern-based side had his Swiss Super League debut put on hold after Egyptian Premier League side FC Smouha failed to release his ITC despite FIFA's instructions to do so.

Smouha were insisting the former Ghana Premier League golden shoe winner left the Alexandria-based side illegally and were not prepared to release his ITC.

But FIFA have issued an ITC for Afum giving him the clearance to play in Saturday's crucial game against Grasshopper at the Stadion Letzigrund.

Afum expressed his delight about his ITC's arrival through his Blackberry status.

"My ITC is in now. Thank you very much lord," he updated.

Young Boys boss Martin Rueda watched the former Ghana U23 attacker net twice in three friendly games last month and would be counting on his pace and incredible finishing on Saturday.
