Ghana-born starlet snubs Denmark

Published on: 17 September 2010

Ghana-born FC Copenhagen midfielder Freebody Appiah has turned down invitation to play for the Denmark Under-17 team.

The Denmark federation has been unrelenting in their bid to add the 16-year-old to their rank  after convincing Denmark-born striker Danny Amankwaa to opt for the Scandinavian country.

But their latest attempt hit a snag as Appiah made it clear he wants to represent his country of birth.

Born in Tema before moving to Denmark with his parents, Appiah joined local side BK SKjold in 2005 before landing a three-year deal with giants FC Copenhagen.

Sorry guys. He's never been approached by the national youth coach of Denmark as he's simply not good enough to play for the Danish team. The story is not true. If Ghana can use him thats cool. His teammate Danny Amankwaa who is also originates from Ghana has several times been used in the danish national youth team.

Freebody Appiah has in fact been approached by the Danish FA. I play in his team, and he is one of the best players, which is why FCK/KB did everything they could to get him from Skjold.
