Ghana-born FC Copenhagen midfielder Freebody Appiah has turned down invitation to play for the Denmark Under-17 team.

The Denmark federation has been unrelenting in their bid to add the 16-year-old to their rank  after convincing Denmark-born striker Danny Amankwaa to opt for the Scandinavian country.

But their latest attempt hit a snag as Appiah made it clear he wants to represent his country of birth.

Born in Tema before moving to Denmark with his parents, Appiah joined local side BK SKjold in 2005 before landing a three-year deal with giants FC Copenhagen.
