Ghana can win 2013 AFCON with united team spirit - Kwadwo Asamoah

Kwadwo Asamoah insists Ghana can be successful at the 2013 Nations Cup with the right team spirit.

The Black Stars will be making its latest attempt to ending a 31-year wait for an African title by the time the tournament kicks off early next year in South Africa.

The closest Ghana has come since winning the 1982 edition of the AFCON was a marathon penalty shootout defeat in the grand finale to Ivory Coast in 1992.

Ghana again lost a final against a more experienced Egyptian two years ago in Angola.

The Juventus midfielder however believes 2013 would be the year the Black Stars ends their trophy drought but only with a positive team spirit.

"If we are united, I think we have the quality of players to win it with the right fighting spirit,” he said.

“Football is not about individuals. It's about team spirit and the hard work."

Asamoah who has been impressive for the Italian champions in the first round of the Serie-A is expected to yet again take on a key role in helping Ghana win the tournament that kicks off on January 19 in South Africa.
