Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has hailed the new colourful jersey of the Black Stars manufactured by Puma as 'the pride and passion of our nation' after it was unveiled this week.

The UAE-based striker is confident that the new design which has some traditional Ghanaian kente around the neck and arm areas has a truly Ghanaian touch to it.

The Black Stars officially outdoored the jersey in their 1-0 loss to Montenegro on Wednesday in Podgorica in a World Cup warm-up.

Ghana were the only African country to reach the quarter final of the 2010 World Cup and Gyan says this fresh design will help them improve on

“The team has been waiting a long time since the 2010 World Cup in which we reached the quarter-finals," said Gyan who will lead the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

"Being so close to becoming the first African team to reach the semi-final was a great triumph but painful at the same time, and are really motivated to come back and achieve an even better result.

“The new kit design from PUMA reflects the pride and passion of our nation and we’ll be leaving for Brasil with full confidence that we can make our country proud.”

The new kits feature PUMA’s new football apparel innovation PWR ACTV, a first-to-market use of both athletic taping and compression within the apparel.

Meanwhile following complaints among football fans that they are unable to purchase Black Stars original jerseys, new way of purchase such high quality apparel has been discovered.

Websites selling sports equipment for Ghanaians have emerged which could be the right place for the Black Stars jerseys and other sporting apparel and paraphernalia could be bought.
