Captain John Mensah has assured Ghanaians of his fitness for next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
A prolonged back injury has seen limited playing opportunities for the 29-year-old for his French club Olympique Lyon, sparking fears he might not be fully fit to help the Black Stars in its bid to end a 30-year wait for an African title.
Despite his poor medical record in recent times, Mensah was included in Ghana's provisional 25-man squad for a pre-tournament training tour inà South Africa à under strong information according to Coach Goran Stevanovic he will be fine.
Mensah after making a surprise appearance at the Sammy Kuffour testimonial on Friday also insists he is good to go.
"I have been injured for sometime now but since December I have been cleared by doctors to play," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
"I therefore want to tell Ghanaians not t worry about my injury because I am fit and will be able to make myà contributionà to the Black Stars at the Nations Cup."
Mensah will hopefully be the one to à lift the trophy for Ghana à as Black Stars captain at the biennial showpiece scheduled to kick off on January 21.
