Ghana coach Avram Grant has mounted a robust defence of his constant decision to hand call-up to South Africa-based defensive midfielder Edwin Gyimah.

Gyimah, who plays for South African side Orlando Pirates, has constantly earned shocking call-ups into the national despite the availability more quality players.

The 24-year-old has made just five appearances for Orlando Pirates since joining from Mpumalanga Black Aces to raise serious questions about the credibility of the selection process.

But the former Chelsea coach claims the ex-Wa All Stars has proven to be a good addition to the squad.

“He proves himself when he comes down. Come to our training and see.” he told Ghanaian journalists on Monday.

Gyimah’s constant inclusion has sparked growing controversy in the West African nation especially after several quality players are overlooked.
