New Ghana coach Avram Grant has warned Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng that their return to the Black Stars will be hinged on commitment to the country, respect for the manager and discipline.

The ex-Chelsea manager, who succeeded Kwesi Appiah last month, is open to handing recalls to Muntari and Boateng after the duo were suspended from the national team for disciplinary reasons.

The pair were banned for misconduct during the World Cup.

Muntari was punished for allegedly assaulting a member of the Ghana Football Association during a row over bonuses.

Boateng paid the price for what the GFA called gross acts of insubordination towards then-coach Kwesi Appiah.

While insisting that he is open to handing the duo their return to the Black Stars, Grant says the players must show discipline when they return and must be able

"The door is open for everybody, but there are criteria,” Grant said.

"I'll respect the team and the players must respect me, too. I'll speak to the players and we'll see what to do.

"They need to show they want to come and want to play. But the national team is not a like any club team. Everybody needs to support it. The national team is more important than any individual."

Grant, who worked with Essien when he was coach of Chelsea and with Boateng when he was in charge of Portsmouth, is keen to harness the country's top talent, especially given the difficulty of the group they have been drawn in for next year's Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana will face South Africa, Algeria and Senegal for the tournament, which will be played between 17 January and 8 February in Equatorial Guinea.
