Ghana coach Avram Grant says the four debutants in the Black Stars must prove they deserve to stay in the national team permanently with their performance in tonight's friendly against Canada in Washington.

The Israeli has been forced to include a number of debutants in their squad for the match versus Canada because of injuries and visa problems.

Captain Asamoah Gyan has been forced to withdraw due to injury, while Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah and Swansea City attacker Andre Ayew are also unavailable while Baba Rahman and Solomon Asante could not acquire visas for the United States.

USA-based midfielders Lloyd Sam and Kwadwo Poku get their first international call-ups after excelling in MLS this season, while Phil Ofosu-Ayeh and Gideon Baah are also named in the Black Stars squad for the first time.

“It’s a friendly game but we couldn’t get our full squad here due to various reasons," the Ghana coach said.

"However, there are a lot of Ghanaian footballers around the world so am giving these players an opportunity to show their talent and to prove that they deserve a place in the national team”, he added.

The Ghanaians will feel confident of getting a good result, though, even without a handful of star performers.

Avram Grant's men have won their last four games, scoring 12 goals and conceding three times in the process.
