Ghana coach Yusif Basigi insists there is no way he will be forced to drop some players from the Black Queens who led the team’s agitation over unpaid bonuses.

Concerns have been raised over the possible victimization of some of the outspoken players of the side who represented the demands of the entire team to have their long-overdue bonuses paid.

The Black Queens had refused to leave their designated hotel in Accra following their return from the All Africa Games where they won a historic gold medal.

Their refusal to leave the hotel was in protest of delayed payment of outstanding bonuses worth over $23000 per player.

It took the intervention of President John Mahama for an initial offer of $2000 from the Sports Minister to be topped up to $5000 with the promise of settling the remaining outstanding amount at a later date before the Black Queens agreed to leave the M-Plaza Hotel after days of protests.

Former Ghana player Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo feared some of the outspoken players in the team who led the agitations of the Black Queens will be victimized by not being selected for future assignments.

But coach Yusif Basigi in an exclusive interview with the General Telegraph newspaper insists he will not be forced into dropping players he consider as key to the side especially if they maintain their good form.

“These are key players of the team so I don’t see why I would be forced to drop them when their performance is still good,” he said.

“They were the most outspoken ones because they are the most eloquent within the team.

“These players had the backing of the entire squad and I don’t think they misconducted themselves in any way.

“So as to have a uniform message the team, delegated them to be if you like spokespersons and I believe they did not insult anyone during deliberations.”

The Black Queens are not engaged in any international assignment until next year when qualifiers for the 2017 African Women’s Championships commences.
