Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has disclosed that Adam Kwarasey is reluctant to return to the Black Stars team despite holding several talks with him.

The Valeranga shot-stopper has not featured for the Black Stars since the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil, having turned down several invitations in the past due to unknown reasons.

Coach Appiah excluded Kwarasey form his 23-man squad for the final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Egypt.

But the 57-year-old gaffer has revealed what culminated in the 29-year-old's recent absence from the team, claiming that the player has rebuffed several efforts to bring him back into the side's fold.

“There’s no single call up I don’t consider, with Adam Kwarasey I talked to him and asked Richard Kingston to take it up from there but getting to time to do the call ups, he gives excuses," Appiah disclosed on Nhyira FM.

“No player should feel bigger than Ghana, Ghana is bigger than any player."

Kwarasey has kept one clean sheet in 12 appearances for Valeranga in the ongoing Norwegian Tippeligaen.
