Ahead of naming his 30-man preliminary squad next month for the 2014 World Cup, Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah will fly to Russia next week to visit midfielder Rabiu Mohammed.

The coach will head straight to Krasnodar after is engagement in Liverpool to meet Kuban Krasnodar's medical experts on the injury situation of the midfielder before making a decision on the 25-year-old.

Rabiu has not played any active parts of Kuban Krasnodar's season since suffering a problematic knee problem in last September.

The hardworking midfielder made a return in November but has since not played in any competitive game for the Russians.

The former Sampdoria and Evian Thonon Gaillard midfielder has featured prominently in Kwesi Appiah's squad and the Ghana coach wants to take include him in his squad for Brazil but wants to be fully briefed on his situation before making a decision.

Rabiu receive massive plaudits for excelling in a role played by AC Milan star Michael Essien at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.
