Ghana coach warns fringe players

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has warned his fringe players abroad they face being axed from his team.

The 44-year-old says he will only hand call-ups and starting places to players who are active at club level.

Stevanovic backed his words with action by dropping Richard Kingson, who is without a club, for Adam Larsen Kwarasey who plays regularly for Norwegian side Stromsgodset.

The Serb handed playing times to Jordan Ayew, Rabiu Mohammed and Albert Adomah, who have all been in active for their various European sides, against Brazil at Craven Cottage.

FC Dnipro midfielder Derek Boateng was picked ahead of Schalke 04 misfit Anthony Annan.

"It's very important that all players try to play in their clubs because we have one problem where majority of players are not playing. It's better to play one game than ten training sessions," Stevanovic told Joy FM.

But most players will get active after the international break as Prince Tagoe has joined Turkish side Bursaspor and Annan has made a loan move to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.

Veteran goalkeeper Richard Kingson must find a club or will be snubbed for future call-ups.
