Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic will call up fringe players for the country’s first international friendly game in 2012, GHANAsoccernet.com has gathered.

The Black Stars will battle South American opponents Chile in New York, two weeks after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea has ended.

The Serbian trainer will use players who failed to make the cut for the biannual showpiece and also give opportunities to new ones.

This could benefit in-form Bristol City winger Albert Adomah, goalkeeper Richard Kingson and Tunisia-based Harrison Afful.

FC Utrecht captain Nana Akwesi Asare, Greece-based Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Jefferey Schlupp and Emmanuel Frimpong of Arsenal could be called up for the match.

Turkey-based Dominic Adiyiah could as well return to the side with possible call –ups to youngsters Afriyie Acquah of Palermo and Amidu Salifu of Fiorentina.

Key players Asamoah Gyan, John Mensah, John Pantsil, Andre Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah and few others will join their club sides after the tournament has ended.

Coach of ‘La Roja’ Claudio Borghi wanted to play the Black Stars at their home base of Santiago, but the distance and high cost involved means they have to stick to America.

If the Ghana FA agrees to play the match it will the first match for the Black Stars in New York where they have a massive following especially in Bronx.

A huge attendance will be seen if the game is played in New York as Ghana fans in that city have been starved of Black Stars action.
