Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has been given by Friday to produce his 30-man provisional World Cup squad after meeting the Ghana Football Association (GFA) board, a source within the federation has told Ghanasoccernet.

The meeting on Tuesday night was neccessitated by the injuries in the Black Stars squad as there are uncertainties surrounding some key players but the Serbian was ready with his 30-man squad.

Rajevac had been on tour in Europe to scour the leagues where the Black Stars players ply their trade to monitor them before he unveils his team for the tournament in South Africa.

According to the source, the coach's meeting with his employers examined the injuries to key players and what role they could play, if any, at the tournament.

The injury situations of deputy captain John Mensah, Michael Essien and Agyemang Badu were discussed with their possible replacements also examined but the Serbian has been given more time to look at the injury situation.

The GFA will also seek medical updates on the state of the injuries from their club to see if the players will be fit for the tournament if they are named in the squad.

While Mensah’s situation has to do with a recurring back problem which could be managed, the situation with Essien is far lesss certain.

Badu suffered the injury while playing with Udinese on Sunday and his medical report indicates he will be out for at most three weeks.

These discussions will thus help the coach, the technical team and the Ghana FA board to reach a consensus on how to manage injuries with players who will recover before the tournament.

Rajevac's final provisional 30-man World Cup squad will be made public before the deadline of 11 May elapses.

The decision is in accordance with Fifa regulations, which stipulates that participating teams must disclose their provisional squads exactly one month ahead of kick-off.

Rajevac will then pick his final 23-man squad on 1 June for the tournament which runs from 11 June to 11 July.

The selected players will group in Paris, France on 24 May to commence preparations for the World Cup finals.

Ghana will test their battle readiness against a local French side on 27 May before games against Holland on 1 June and Latvia on 5 June.

The Stars depart for South Africa on 6 June to finalize their preparations for their Group D opener against Serbia on 13 June at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

Ghana will also play Australia on 19 June at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg before engaging Germany on 23 June at the Soccer City in Johannesburg.
