Ghana coach to ring changes for Mali AFCON playoff clash

Published on: 09 February 2013

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will make at least two changes to his starting line-up when they play Mali in the third place playoff at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

Two first choice players John Pantsil and Rabiu Mohammed are not available for the game which means some players will be called up to replace them.

Pantsil has been ruled out of the tournament because of injury while Mohammed has been suspended after accumulating two yellow cards.

Harrison Afful could be called to replace Paintsil at the right-back position while Richard Kissi Boateng is expected to replace at versatile Afful at the left-back.

The central defensive pair of John Boye and Isaac Vorsah could be maintained while Emmanuel Agyemang Badu could be brought into the defensive midfield place to take Mohammed's role.

Vorsah could also be played in midfield while Jonathan Mensah will partner Boye under that circumstance.

Christian Atsu, Mubarak Wakaso, Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan as well as Derek Baoteng could all be started in the game.

Ghana's probable line-up: Fatau Dauda, Harrison Afful, Richard Kissi Boateng, John Boye, Isaac Vorsah, Agyemang Badu, Christian Atsu, Derek Boateng, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, Mubarak Wakaso.
