Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko feels motivated to do more and make the country’s 2014 World Cup squad.

The 25-year-old is gradually becoming an integral member of Kwesi Appiah’s squad after he was handed another call-up into the team ahead of next week’s international friendly against Montenegro.

Akaminko, who plays for Turkish Süper Lig club Eski?ehirspor, has spoken about his delight of being recalled into the team and feels he must do more to be on the plane to Brazil.

“I received a call-up for Ghana’s international friendly next week with Montenegro as you may have read on here. It is always a good feeling to know that your efforts are recognised by your country,” he told reporters in Turkey

“I have maintained my place in the team since playing in the play-off matches which secured our ticket to Brazil.

“The competition is fierce especially with the World Cup in the summer so you have to give off your best when called upon and also perform to the best of your ability on a weekly basis for your club.”

The former Heart of Lions strong centre-back played a part in Ghana’s qualification to the global piece.
