Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman is set to play alongside Pedro after Chelsea hijacked a deal for the Barcelona winger.

The English champions will sign the 28-year-old on Wednesday in a £21.1million deal in a move which has infuriated Manchester United fans.

United is reported to have pulled away from the deal on Tuesday night as the Spain international is keen on a move to London.

Rahman, who signed for the Blues this week, will get the chance to play the World Cup winner and some of the high-profile players on the planet.

United were in pole position to sign the World Cup winner after Woodward flew to Barcelona for further talks on Monday.

But Chelsea went toe-to-toe with their Barclays Premier League rivals, with Roman Abramovich particularly keen on signing the player.

Chelsea need to boost their own attacking options before the close of the summer transfer window following a miserable start to the new season.
