Ghana defender John Boye says the Black Stars are wary of Zambia's threat especially after their opening defeat in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The African champions host Ghana this Saturday in Ndola in a game they must win to get their hopes of making it to Brazil back on track after a surprise defeat to Sudan last weekend.

But Boye who has emerged as Ghana's most reliable defender in recent times insists his side is prepared to offset the expected onslaught from the Chipolopolo.

"We played our first game against Lesotho and we won and it has boosted our morale and we know this game (Zambia) will be very crucial so we are ready,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“That is what we also know (Zambia defeat to Sudan), each and every one of us the players know exactly what to do so we will go out there and put our heart in it to get the win for Ghana.”

Zambia defeated Ghana 1-0 at the semi final stage at the 2012 Nations Cup where eventually they emerged winners after beating Cote d'Ivoire in the grand finale at Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
