Ghana defender Daniel Amartey is traveling to France to undergo a medical before signing a contract to join Olympique Marseille, according to reports.

The 21-year-old who has been tracked all summer long by Leicester City looks set to join the French club after FC Copenhagen agreed to a reported £5.5m offer.

Amartey is unable to make a preferred move to the English Premier League over expected difficulties in securing a work permit and is now settling for Marseille.

The player and his representatives are said to be already in France to finalize the move before the summer transfer window closes.

Amartey came into the limelight after shining at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where he helped Ghana clinch silver.

He had a breakaway season with FC Copenhagen last term to alert several clubs of his immense talents and versatility as he is also able to play in midfield.

The move will also see Amartey’s former club Djurgarden receive up to 12.5% of the total transfer fee.

Amartey will join up with the Black Stars camp immediately after completing his move to Marseille for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda.

He will be the latest Ghanaian to play for the French club once the move is confirmed – following the likes of Abedi, Andre and Jordan Ayew.
