Ghana defender Edwin Gyimah has been over looked for the best defender in the  PSL despite recovering from a poor start to establish himself as one of the best defenders for the Sea Robbers this season.

Sundowns defender Thabo Nthethe, Bidvest Wits defender Thulani Hlatshwayo as well as Vuyo Mere from Platinum Stars were the three that made it.

Gyimah’s fellow Ghanaian Lawrence Lartey who plays for Ajax Cape Town also missed out despite a strong start to life in the Rainbow nation.

Gyimah joined Pirates after impressive showings for Black Aces and Super Sport United.

He also played a key role to get the team reach the Nedbank Cup final but they lost 3-2 to Supersport United.

The former Wa All Stars man however expected to join his Black Stars team mates this week ahead of their AFCON qualifier against Mauritius.
