Ghanaian defender Gideon Baah has been named in the Europa League Team of the Season, according to whoscored.com.Â
Baah who plays for Finnish side HJK Helsinki, was rewarded with a place in the team after his impressive display in the group stages.
The 23 year old  formed a back line of four with Everton’s Phil Jagielka, Dynamo Kyiv ‘s Khacheri and Dynamo Moscows Hubocan in the Europa league team of the season.
Baah joined current Finish Champions HJK Helsinki from Honka and was an immediate hit, becoming a rock at the heart of HJK defense leading to their league triumph.
The Ghanaian could however not power HJK into the knock out stages of the UEFA Europa League but was rated the best defender in the competition with an index of 7.90.
Baah’s performance is even more impressive given HJK exited the competition at the group stage.
HJK Helsinki and Baah will now look to make the group stages of the UEFA champion’s league this season after winning the league title last season.
