Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah earned his maiden start of the 2014/15 season for Evian Thonon Gaillard in their 0-0 stalemate with ten-man Paris Saint-Germain on Friday night.

The 24-year-old went into the referee's pocket and lasted the entire duration of the game before 14,600 fans at the Parc des Sports.

Mensah partnered experienced French defender Aldo Angoula in central defence and successfullycontained the attacking threats posed by Javier Pastore and Edson Cavani.

It was a debut that could have won the game for Evian but the diligence of Brazilian center-back David Luiz denied Mensah.

Barbosa sent in a well-calculated corner that found the Black Stars defender who crashed the ball towards goals but was denied by David Luiz's expert tackle in the 92nd minute.
