Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila endured yet another defeat on his injury return with Mamelodi Sundown.

The Brazilians were handed a comprehensive 3-1 defeat at Wits University to now go nine points behind Kaizer Chiefs in their championship pursuit.

This is the second consecutive defeat suffered by the Ghana international on his full return from injury for the South African top flight side.

Pitso Mosimane’s side lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates at home in their last PSL game to see their title challenge take a massive hit.

Sumaila – who had made a strong start to his debut season in South Africa - had been out since December last year with a hamstring injury.

He only returned to full time action in last week’s defeat to Pirates.

The 21-year-old who is one of many defenders in serious competition for places in the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup has apologized to his club fans for their recent poor run of results.

“I apologies on behalf of the entire #Sundowns #team for the 2 loses, we promise to bounce back quickly and make you all happy. @Masandawana.” Sumaila posted on his Tweeter handle.

“We promise to bounce back Quickly and make the Fans happy, we apologies for the poor form.@Masandawana @OfficialPSL.”

Sundowns will be hoping to return to winning ways when they travel to face AmaZulu on Friday.
