Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila was in full time action for Mamelodi Sundowns as they returned to the top of the South African league with a 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday night.

Sumaila returned to the starting line up of the Brazilians after sitting out the weekend’s 1-0 win over title rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The Black Stars defender played the full duration of the game played in Pretoria but got booked in the 40th minute.

Surprise Moriri’s 23rd minute strike proved enugh to hand Pitso Mosimane’s side the vital win to continue with their push for the title.

Sundowns are now three points clear at top of the South African PSL having played one game more than closest rivals Kaizer Chiefs with four games left.

Sundowns are determined to end their seven-year trophy drought in the South African top flight.

It will be Sumaila’s first piece of silverware outside Ghana if his side manage to clinch the title.
