Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom says the quest for regular playing opportunities prompted him to sign for Boavista.

The 26-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Portuguese outfit after leaving American Major League side DC United.

The Ghana international has revealed the desire for regular playing time decided his club future.

“I want to play regularly and Boavista offers me that opportunity,” he told Starr FM

“As you might be aware, Boavista is a big club with huge ambitions and so I’m happy I signed for them. It’s now left for me to prove my quality again and hopefully everything will turn out just fine.

“I need somewhere you can see yourself playing because I have been out for six months and I don’t need to go to a club where I will struggle for playing time. You can go to Madrid and be a backup. Boavista is a big team."

Inkoom has an extensive international resume, having played for FC Basel of Switzerland, Ukrainian side Dnipro and lately DC United.

His return to club action could ignite his return to international football after being frozen out for close to a year.
