Ghana duo Kevin-Prince Boateng, Sulley Muntari named among ESPN's World Cup worst XI

Kevin-Prince Boateng was ranked among the worst players at the 2014 World Cup

Ghana midfield duo of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari have been named among the worst players of the 2014 World Cup by ESPN.

The American sports broadcaster published a list of players it thinks underperformed by the end of the tournament in Brazil on Sunday.

Boateng was not impressive throughout the competition. Perhaps the decision by the Ghana FA to send Boateng and Muntari home for indiscipline might have contributed to their low ranking.

However the inclusion of Muntari in the list will come as a huge surprise to many Ghanaians given the performances he put up in the Black Stars two matches at the tournament.

He excelled in the match against the United States and was the mastermind of breaking up the fluent German midfield resulting in Ghana's outstanding performance in the 2-2 draw with the eventual tournament winners.

Other famous players like Spain goalkeeper Casillas, Mario Balotelli of Italy, Suarez and Pepe were included in the list prepared by journalist Craig Burley.

See video of the ranking below by ESPN

Do you think this is a fair ranking for the players? Do you think Muntari was fairly ranked? Make your views known in the box below

Nana Yaa, Wango and Boro! I really understand the fact that we should behave, respect and honor our leaders and the people around. In life there're opinions and facts, facts always remain facts. OPINION is like you know this is RED and you are saying that we can come out with this idea, that it is not RED but GREEN even though they will talk, but we have the power to decide who should be here and there. The fact is yes I was once a child, innocence, naïve and ignorance, but now I'm not, so explain to me why are you doing this? That's is why Paul said, ''CHILDREN OBEY YOUR PARENTS IN THE LORD, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER SO THAT IT MAY GO WELL WITH YOU AND ENJOY LONG LIFE ON THE EARTH. (THEN HE SAID, FTHERS DO NOT PROVOKE YOUR CHILDREN; INSTEAD BRING THEM UP IN THE TRAINING AND INSTRUCTION''. Why did he say that? my point is that yet they were wrong, but I don't believe they just got up and misbehave, PROVOKE NOT, IN OTHER WORDS DON'T BRING IN UNWELCOME WORDS!!! PLEASE TALK TO THEM AS WELL IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME NOT ANYONE WILL KEEP QUIET....

Hahaha. KPB came to Brazil to enjoy himself and rebel against the technical team not to play oooo.As for Muntari it was the after effect of excess smoking of indian hemp that caused him to turn into a boxer. Waste of space in the BS team.

Thank God Now of the two Boateng brothers we know know who's the real performer. Jerome Boateng was a star yesterday ESPN got it right. Kevin Boateng was simply a humiliation in the Ghana-Germany game - A complete passenger in the game. What a total waste! Considering the fact that he had made so much noise for being sidelined in the Ghana's opening match with USA and also having taunted the Germans for lack of will, I think he could earn the worst player tag. Yet he was claiming elite status. Coach Appiah lacked tactics but not eyes. And for once I agree with him that KPB must not be invited again. The list also include Suarez who despite his performance against England is featured prominently here. Like Sulley, Suarez must be realizing now that Biting and Boxing are not part of the beautiful game of soccer. At last ESPN got it right.

Boro and Wango, I believe it either you guys are part of GFA or family members, because it's only them are given a negative impression about these guys, so when you guys see any negative comment about them then you support , why? I wish no one is born outside Ghana will come and play for Ghana again. I always feel sorry for players like Quiency he was in Holand and GFA persuaded him when he spoke against the same situation he never call up again, the only reason they gave about him was he was not good. The same thing is going on with KPB and Kwarasey. The cup is been full and how long can you guys keep on putting blame on the players? As Ghanaians are crying shouting God is hearing it all one day one will sleep and will not wake up again and everything he or she has wrongly gain will be use for their sickness and death. I'm in USA and all the Ghanaians around the world are calling you guys name every minute. GSN delete this also God is watching!

Wango, this time you are so right! Why do we keep inviting super egoistic KP and SM to the team? They think they are bigger than life! We already know how selfish and arrogant these guys are; no one should be surprised at their behavior. We should blame ourselves for inviting them. PLEASE KEEP THEM OUT FOR GOOD!

Sean, The GFA may be corrupt but you must also agree that your KP boy is arrogant. No coach in the world will work with such ego; that's why he keeps changing teams every year. Try getting Capello to coach him for just one day and see what happens. We all know about SM's temper; even his parents have been trying so hard to calm him down. So we don't need to or pretend he will fit in the team. He is a good player but in modern soccer its not just your skills, your behavior also counts - ask Suarez! We must accept that fact that some players "divas" will just not "fit" in the team!

@ SEAN There was once a player called Tony Baffoe. He missed the penalty that could have secured the cup for Ghana at the 1992 African Cup of Nations. Yet Ghanaians love him and proudly associate him with the best of what Ghana and Africa have to offer to the world. Coincidentally, he made history yesterday representing FIFA in Brazil. You see, soccer is not all about kicking the ball. Discipline plays a huge part of the game.

@Ogya, Bara and Sean: Having the opportunity to play for an european national team but opting for Ghana does not make you an automatic choice. You definitely have to fight for your position. How many clubs has Quincy ended up playing over the past say five years so many that i have even lost the count. Have you found out why? In the case of KPB he had no option. He was never going to make it into the German national team. He had dipped in form drastically because along the line he started enjoing in the club rather than playing football. Porthmouth the team he was playing for has relegated from the premiership and his talents was on the verge of being lost. Ghana gave him the platform to showcase his talents but never learned any lessons from that. Very soon he will turn into a bench warmer again.
